We’re hot and heavy into remodeling our new home now. Our current focus is the interior – we want to make it livable as quickly as possible. (Which also gives us more time to fantasize about the outside. I’m going to relish garden-making here!)
We’re after bright, airy, fresh, relaxed spaces. Earthy, honest materials. A San Ysidro Ranch meets Napa-Sonoma contemporary farmhouse vibe. Open floor plan. Blurred line between indoors and out, with the garden set up for gracious outdoor living. What we call the art of outdoor living… that Santa Barbara style that people the world over come here to savor.
We’re landscapers by trade – not interior designers – and this is the biggest project of our own that we’ve ever done. To true ourselves up, we put together some inspiration photos. Here’s a look at various rooms in their virgin state and the photos that called to us. We’d love to hear your input — and I can’t wait to share the outcome with you.
All the rooms on the back side of the house – dining room, kitchen, master bedroom and bath – want to be opened up to bring the outdoors in to create that Santa Barbara style that we love.
Kitchen materials will be simple and earthy…and timeless. Linen paint, shaker cabinets, farmhouse sink, Carrera counter tops, touches of reclaimed wood.
A big transformation is coming to the master bedroom and bath.
The master bath is dreary now…we’ll go light and airy and luxe…and connected to the garden…
The family bath will get a little love too…
